Chris performs solo and with two active music projects: The ACT – Americana Music Trio, and The Venn Collective.
The Venn Collective specializes in arranging and performing eclectic covers and original tunes in a variety of genres from Americana to jazz. Core members are Renata Payne, Francesca Smilgin-Box and Chris. They often invite guests to perform with them to expand their horizons. The Venn Collective likes to keep its arrangements spare, with lead vocals and harmonies front and centre, cradled by background rhythms and accents from guitar, cello, harmonica and percussion. The Venn Collective has performed to packed local venues in Vancouver and the North Shore. Their work has also been featured on Erin Radio 91.7 “Canadian Roots”. The ACT is Andre Chrys, Chris Lok and Taryn Laronge. The ACT performs original tunes peppered with a few obscure but favorite covers. They have performed at numerous venues in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island including Trees Organic, Cafe Deux Soleils, Brentwood Bay Resort, Song Stage in Maple Ridge and a BC Songwriters Showcase Association event in Langley, Friday Night Live in North Vancouver. They have received Canadian radio play and their music is available wherever you stream your music as well as on Facebook and Youtube . They are currently hard at work releasing an EP.
